Let clients know that the cost of Akismet is $5 a month and because of the way that Akismet is handled through WordPress.com, we need to use their own WordPress.com account and their own credit card for this particular plugin.
Ask the client if they have a WordPress.com login.
Clients with a WordPress.com Login
If they have a WordPress.com login, ask them to go to https://akismet.com/signup/ and add their credit card info and click continue. Ask them to copy the Akismet API Key and send it to us.
Follow these instructions to activate the plugin.
Clients without a WordPress.com Login
If they do not have a login, or they do not know what it is, then ask them what email address is best to use and then create a new WordPress.com login for them.
Send them the UN and PW using one-time secret and ask them to go to https://akismet.com/signup/ and add their credit card info and click continue.
Ask them to copy the Akismet API Key and send it to us.
